Houston, Texas — The International Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers (IISRP) will honour two of its leaders at its next AGM, in Cape Town, South Africa the week of 20 April 2015.
Dr. Vladimir Busygin of Nizhnekamskneftekhim will be the recipient of the ‘general award’ and Dr. Youichiro Kubo, retired from Zeon Corp., will receive the ‘technical award’.
Busygin, who is chairman of Nizhnekamskneftekhim, is being recognised for his contributions to the Russian and global petrochemical industry. He is a prominent inventor and scientist, the author of more than 60 scientific works, 118 inventions and 23 utility models, with 28 inventions and 8 utility models currently in production at their sites.
As well as his leadership roles at Nizhnekamskneftekhim, Busygin also served as vice president of the Russian Chemists Union and as a board member of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. He holds a PhD in technology and a post-doctoral degree in economics from Perm State Technical University.
Kubo received his doctorate in applied chemistry from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, where he focused his research on the preparation and properties of cobalt and iron complexes with TPPP.
His 31-year career has been in the area of the development, manufacturing and processing of synthetic rubber and catalysts and in establishing the technology of catalysts for hydrogenating the reaction of nitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR) in industrial processes.
Kubo has received several awards and has more than 25 patents to his credit. He sits on the ISO/TC45 committee on rubber and when he retired he was senior scientist of Zeon’s rubber and catalyst development division.
