World new car registrations down 7% in May
Oxford, UK – World car registrations in May 2019 were down by 7% compared with the same month in 2018, at 7.6 million units.
US sales in May were flat, at 1.6 million units. In China, according to LMC Automotive, 1.9 million units were sold, and down 15.6% year on year.
In May 2018, Chinese dealers sold 2.2 million units.
Western European sales were 1.5 million units in the month. Like the US, this number is almost unchanged year on year.
Sales in Brazil and Argentina fell to 269,000 units in the month. This compares with 275,000 units in the same month in 2018.
