Barcelona, Spain - German distributor Biesterfeld has merged its two Iberian operations under a new Biesterfeld Ibérica entity, the company announced 27 June.
With the merger of Spezialchemie Ibérica SLU and Biesterfeld Ibérica SLU, the company said it had become a “one-stop” supplier for plastics, rubbers and basic & specialty chemicals in the Iberian market.
The general managers of the two companies, Joan-Enric Bruguera and Enric Garcia, will continue to run the new, enlarged entity.
The Iberian unit has two Spanish offices in Sant Just Desvern, and Mataró, Barcelona, as well as an office in Porto, Portugal.
This merger is part of a 'One Biesterfeld' strategy, which is aimed at consolidating the company’s market presence.
“Having more effective structures in place will make us more agile,” said Thomas Arnold, CEO of Biesterfeld AG.
The merger will make processes and management systems more efficient, while generating synergies between sites, Biesterfeld said.
"We used this merger as an opportunity to optimise our processes and structures: now, we can provide our customers with everything from a single source,” said Enric Garcia.
