Altdorf, Switzerland – Swiss polymer group Datwyler is targeting growth through digitalisations, according to the company’s CSR report published 28 June.
The group said it ‘proactively turned’ digitalisation opportunities into competitive advantage, to advance in the markets where it is present.
Datwyler said it is continuously investing to increase the efficiency of business processes, improve data quality, raise IT security, and establishe “a strong and flexible basis for future digital applications.”
In the company’s Sealing Solutions division in particular, the focus lies on Industry 4.0 with “automated, interconnected, and intelligent production plants,” which optimise processes, and help with predictive maintenance.
The company said it was “modernising and expanding” its ERP software package (SAP S/4 HANA and MII), robotic process automations (RPA), automated guided vehicles (AGV), as well as RFID technology for controlling and tracking material flows.
A flagship healthcare products manufacturing plant recently opened in the US features a “fully interconnected, highly automated, and paperless production.”
As part of its uniform production system, Datwyler said it is rolling out the ‘acquired knowledge’ at the US plant across its other sites.
