Lanxess adds capacity for high performance prepolymers

Cologne, Germany - Lanxess AG has expanded its capacity for high-performance prepolymers with the commissioning of a new production unit at its site in Porto Feliz, Brazil.

Part of the Lanxess urethane systems business unit, the facility also offers application development and technical services at its “state-of-the-art laboratory”, said a Lanxess statement 28 June without providing more details on capacity or investment.

“We are delighted to be able to provide both our global and local customers with excellent product quality and faster supply, as well as engineering and technical services,” said Dr. Markus Eckert, head of the urethane systems business unit.

The business unit is a systems provider to the global PU industry with expertise in cast elastomers, coatings, adhesives and sealants.

Its portfolio includes conventional and low free isocyanate prepolymers, and special aqueous polyurethane dispersions (PUDs).

The unit also offers catalysts and curing agents for cast elastomers as well as technologies for coatings, adhesives and sealants.

The business is currently focused on developing solvent-free and monomer-free prepolymer systems, as well as easy-to-use blocked crosslinkers, said Lanxess.
