Four tire makers earn GM supplier honours

Detroit, Michigan — General Motors Co. has named Bridgestone Americas Inc., Goodyear, Hankook Tire America Corp. and Michelin North America suppliers of the year for 2018.

The four tire makers are among 133 suppliers to earn the recognition, which GM presented recently in Detroit during its 27th annual supplier of the year awards ceremony.

GM selected suppliers from 15 countries to receive the award for going "above and beyond GM's requirements," providing customers with innovative technologies and quality vehicles.

For Bridgestone, the recognition is its fourth consecutive award and 17th overall.

Supplier of the year award winners are chosen by a global team of GM purchasing, engineering, quality, manufacturing and logistics executives.

Winners were selected based on performance criteria in product purchasing, global purchasing and manufacturing services, customer care and aftersales, and logistics.
