Tokyo — The Yokohama Rubber Co. (YRC) has begun supplying its “Avid GT” passenger car tire as original equipment (OE) for Toyota Motor’s new RAV4 crossover SUV.
The new RAV4 is coming equipped with 235/55R19 101V size tires, YRC said in a 23 May statement.
The vehicle was first launched in North America in 2018 and has since been introduced in Japan, South Korea, Europe and other markets.
The Avid GT is an upgraded version of Avid passenger car tires previously sold in the North American market.
The new series incorporates the basic design and material technologies featured in Yokohama’s environmentally-friendly BluEarth tire brand.
The tire is suitable for mud and snow, and enhances the vehicle’s fuel efficiency while providing “superior drivability and safety,” Yokohama added.
