Orion announces executive management changes

Houston, Texas – Orion Engineered Carbons SA has announced major changes within its executive management team, effective next month.

As part of the restructuring operation, Carlos Quinones will join the company as senior vice president (SVP), global operations, on 3 June, the carbon black supplier announced 21 May.

Quinones has over 25 years of experience in the chemicals industry, having previously worked with Arco Chemical, Rohm and Haas/Dow Chemical, Praxair and Air Products and Chemicals.

Most recently, according to his LinkedIn profile, Quinones served as director, industrial gases Americas operations at Air Products.

“Carlos has deep chemical manufacturing experience across a number of operations including high temperature reactions, waste heat optimisation and high reliability systems,” said Corning Painter, CEO of Orion.

In his new position, Quinones is expected to strengthen Orion’s plant productivity and reliability.

In addition, Pedro Riveros has been appointed as SVP and general manager, Americas.

Riveros, who has a long career at Air Products and Chemicals under his belt, will likewise commence his role on 3 June.

Riveros held a number of business and general management roles at Air Products and most recently served as the company’s director - strategy, technology & sourcing - Americas Region.

Patrick Tuttle will also be joining the Orion top management team as SVP global human resources 10 June, having worked as VP and chief human resources officer for welding supplies specialist ESAB.

The new team members will be based in Orion’s principal executive offices in Houston, and will replace “the current holders of these roles,” Orion said.

Claudine Mollenkopf, SVP specialty carbon blacks, will be leaving the company "to pursue other business interests," said the company adding Mollenkopf’s role will be reassigned within Orion,.

Orion’s management team includes 12 members, and is led by CEO Corning Painter and CFO Charles Herlinger.

Painter took over the position of chief executive at Orion in September last year.
