Melksham, UK – Avon Rubber plc’s protection division has been awarded two separate contracts to supply mask systems and related accessories to the US Department of Defense (DoD) and an unnamed military customer.
Valued at $16.6 (€14.8 million), shipments for the unnamed customer are expected to start in the fourth quarter of the company’s current financial year ending 30 Sept.
The contract, said the company 24 April, is part of Avon’s strategy to broaden its customer base, while maximising sales growth from its current product portfolio.
The Melksham company was also awarded a $20.2 million (€18 million) contract to supply M53A1 masks and powered air system to DoD in late March.
Deliveries under this order will commence in the second half of the current financial year, according to Avon.
The two orders follow an €81-million contract at the beginning of the year to supply DoD with M69 aircrew masks.
This mask has been specifically developed for aircrew wearers who require CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) respiratory protection at altitudes up to 12,000m.
