Colombo, Sri Lanka – Speciality tire manufacturer Global Rubber Industries Pvt. Ltd. (GRI) has installed a "state-of-the-art" tire endurance tester at its facility in Sri Lanka.
According to GRI, the equipment evaluates all tires produced, measuring the strength of their profile in connection with the expected level of performance.
The endurance tester analyses tires under heavy load conditions in order to evaluate the stability for driving and comply with mandatory international regulations.
The machine increases speed on the factory floor and a promotes a high level of uniformity, "allowing GRI to meet customer demand without an interruption in delivery schedules," said the company. GRI said it is the first industrial tire manufacturer to use the machine in the country.
The tester measures 3 metres in diameter and is specialised to test a wide range of agriculture tires and OTR tires more than 20 inches in diameter. GRI did not disclose the identity or country of origin of the equipment's manufacturer.
GRI also said that its testing department soon will be equipped with a plunger tester, which will assess the strength of the tire carcass. The investment in the technology, said Prabhash Subasinghe, managing director GRI, is to provide "the best tires possible" in an "ever-changing, complex and uncertain world."
