Yokohama selected for OE fitment on BMW X3 in China

Tokyo — The Yokohama Rubber Co. Ltd is supplying its “Advan Sport V105” tires as original equipment (OE) for use on the new BMW X3 midsize sports activity vehicle made at the German carmaker's plant in China.

The tires are manufactured at Yokohama’s Suzhou plant in China and are being supplied in 245/50R19 105W size for the China-made X3 since May 2018, Yokohama said 22 Oct.

The “Advan Sport V105” is a high-performance tire developed by Yokohama primarily for use on high-power premium cars.

The tires being supplied for the new X3 were jointly developed with the BMW Group and bear the German automaker’s star mark symbol of approval on the tire sidewall.

Under its three-year medium-term management plan, GD2020, launched in February 2018, Yokohama has shifted strategic focus on expanding its premium tire market share.

As part of the strategy, the company is aiming to increase its OE fitments with premium carmakers in Japan and globally.
