Apollo Vredestein to supply OE tires for Volkswagen Touareg

Kettering, UK – German carmaker Volkswagen Group has selected Apollo Vredestein tires for OE fitment on its new Touareg models in Europe, Apollo Vredestein announced 27 Sept.

The two 18-inch Vredestein premium tires chosen for the VW flagship SUV are Vredestein Quatrac 5 (all-season tire) and the Vredestein Ultrac Satin (summer tire).

The Vredestein Ultrac Satin 255/60 R18 108W, said the company, has low rolling resistance, with high grip due to the "unique traction-enhancing resin and Z-shaped grooves in the tread."

The Vredestein Quatrac 5 255/60 R18 108V all-season tire, is also claimed to be a success with "perfect grip in bends, as well as fast acceleration even on wet surfaces.”

Apollo-Vredestein said it has sold five million units of the all-season tire since its launch in 2014.

Commenting on the selection for OE fitment on Touareg, Mathias Heimann, president Europe at Apollo Vredestein, said it was a “key milestone for the brand’s premium and ultra-high performance strategy.

“This is particularly good news for Vredestein in the UK market,” added Karl Naylor, Apollo Vredestein UK country manager.

“The SUV vehicle segment continues to show significant growth in the UK; gaining OE approval on the summer and all-season tires is ideal for our market and our climate."
