Hanover, Germany – Bridgestone Corp has the launch its digital maintenance system FleetPulse during the IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hanover, 20-27 Sept.
The system is a three-in-one solution involving a mobile app, a centralised website and tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) hardware.
The fleet management system automates roadworthiness checks, while helping fleets simplify their operations and reduce maintenance costs, Bridgestone said in a 19 Sept statement.
The sensor relays information such as defects and damage, as well as performance data to drivers, technicians and fleet managers.
Through the centralised FleetPulse online portal, fleet and maintenance managers can access status updates and make individual requests to drivers and technicians using the designated app. These requests can include new checklists, service bookings or even the removal of vehicles from the road.
The app and TPMS sensors will be available on the market from September 2018, with a free trial period.
Bridgestone claims that the cost of the TPMS hardware would be amortised within a year, based on the assumption that a typical tractor and trailer combination running at optimal tire pressure can save, on average, up to €1,100 per year in fuel, tire and breakdown costs.
“We’re rapidly realising value from mobility solutions that deliver greater-than-ever efficiency, convenience and sustainability,” said Paolo Ferrari, CEO and president of Bridgestone EMEA.
