Zhaoyuan, China – Shandong Lingong Tire Co. Ltd and Chinese car maker FAW Group Co. have signed a technical cooperation framework agreement to co-develop products in the future.
The agreement involves “deeper cooperation” in product design and development, quality assurance, cost optimisation, manufacturing and social responsibility, Linglong said in a 1 Sept announcement.
The two sides have already been working together for the past two decades, with Linglong supplying tires as OE fitment for many FAW models.
The new agreement, according to Linglong, will be a “major breakthrough”, where the two companies will conduct long-term work on developing new tires.
As part of the agreement, the two sides have agreed on “resource sharing and talent cultivation”.
Headquartered in Changchun, Jilin, FAW is one of the “big four” Chinese car makers and produces brands such as Jilin, Besturn and Dario.
The company is also in joint venture agreements with global carmakers such as Audi, General Motors, Toyota and Volkswagen where it manufactures those brands for the Chinese market.
