Milan, Italy – Pirelli is the “official technical partner” for the new Aston Martin all-electric Rapide E and will equip the model with its P Zero tires, the tire-maker announced 20 Sept
The Rapide E, it said, will require different fitments for the two axles: 245/35ZR21 (96Y) XL P Zero ncs on the front and 295/30ZR21 (102Y) XL P Zero ncs at the rear.
Pirelli said its engineers are working alongside their Aston Martin counterparts to “continually fine-tune” the tire specifications.
This, it claimed, “will perfectly complement the style and supreme performance alongside the car’s new zero-emission powertrain characteristics.”
Requirements include optimising the balance between low rolling-resistance – to extend the vehicle’s range on one battery charge – and performance and handling.
Pirelli is delivering this through customised tread patterns to manage torque levels from the rear axle and optimised rolling-resistance and wet-weather performance on the front axle.
The Rapide E tires will also feature a noise-cancelling technology that reduces the frequency filtering through the car.
