Hanover, Germany – Pirelli C & SpA has unveiled its “completely renewed” Cyber Fleet systems during the 67th IAA Commercial Vehicle show, current underway in Hanover.
The digital systems on display are dedicated to monitoring and managing fleets and include Cyber Fleet Smart and Cyber Fleet Gate, said Pirelli in a 19-Sept release.
The products, however, have been “completely renewed” in this new edition and are now available for every type of fleet, Pirelli added.
The smart solutions communicate via Bluetooth, and are both connected to the Pirelli Cloud, where tire data is analysed.
The data, according to Pirelli, can supply information and predictions about fuel consumption, vehicle efficiency, and maintenance.
The Cyber Fleet Smart system is a plug and play solution, composed of sensors fitted to the inner liner of the tire. The sensors communicate directly to a free smart app which can be installed onto smartphones.
Upon checking tires, sensors provide information about pressure and temperature of tires directly to the app and alarms are triggered if needed. This, Pirelli said, makes tire checks possible in “a matter of seconds” compared to longer manual operations.
Customers can receive a monthly report about tire usage and efficiency of their fleet.
Cyber Fleet Gate, on the other hand, is a monitoring system at the warehouse which involves sensors at the gate and a “traffic light” arrangement.
A green light comes on if all the tires are as they should be and a red one comes on if an intervention on one or more tires is needed.
The products will be introduced to the market in the first quarter of 2019, starting from Italy and the UK. Germany and Brazil will follow in the second quarter of the year.
