New Trelleborg facility in Mexico to serve automotive industry

Querétaro, Mexico – Trelleborg’s sealing profiles operation has inaugurated a new manufacturing facility in Querétaro to supply to automotive customers and serve as a Central American hub.
The site, which covers a total of 1250 square metres, will produce high-performance extruded sealing profiles, such as control cable protector tubes and other critical automotive sealing components, the Swedish rubber group announced 4 Sept.
The production site is part of Trelleborg’s long-term strategy to invest in markets with “favourable growth potential”, and is expected to supply to tier one automotive customers in both North and South America.
“Querétaro was carefully selected for our manufacturing site as it is one of the fastest growing automotive clusters in Mexico,” explained Hector Angeles, manager of the manufacturing facility in Mexico.
“We believe that this expansion will further strengthen our market position in the automotive segment,” also said Magnus Andersson, business unit president, Trelleborg Sealing Profiles.
The official inauguration took place 16 August.
The Trelleborg Group has a number of facilities and sales offices in Mexico; in Aguascalientes, Monterrey, Mexico City, Querétaro, Silao and Tijuana. The company employs about 500 at its Mexican locations and generated SEK 317 million (€273 million) of revenue last year.
Trelleborg’s sealing profiles operation, part of Trelleborg business area Trelleborg Industrial Solutions, is a supplier of extruded profiles to the construction and automotive industries.
