Vienna – Semperit AG’s chief operating officer Michele Melchiorre has announced that he is terminating his contract with the Austrian rubber group prematurely, stepping down from his position 30 Sept.
Melchiorre, who was in charge of Semperit’s medical sector, has decided to continue his career in the automotive industry where he has previously worked for many years, the Vienna-based group announced 10 Sept.
“The supervisory board thanks Melchiorre for his energetic commitment and regrets that he has prematurely terminated his management board mandate,” said Christoph Kollatz, chairman of the supervisory board of Semperit AG Holding.
Felix Fremerey, member of Semperit’s supervisory board, and CEO Martin Füllenbach will be responsible for the portfolio of Michele Melchiorre on an interim basis until a replacement is appointed.
According to Kollatz, the new development will not hamper Semperit’s ongoing restructuring process which aims to streamline the company’s businesses.
Melchiorre joined Semperit’s management board as chief technical officer in June 2016 and was promoted to COO in a year. He studied mechanical engineering at Technical University Aachen and business administration at the University of Hagen.
He has previously worked with Daimler Benz AG, and held senior positions at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Bombardier Transportation.
