Cooper Standard opens new headquarters in Japan 

Yokohama, Japan – Cooper Standard Automotive Inc. has opened its new Japan headquarters and engineering center in Yokohama, relocating it from a site in Osaki.

The centre spans 5,400 square feet and employs 14 people. It offers full-service product development and engineering for local automotive original equipment manufacturers.

"The opening of our new Yokohama facility expands Cooper Standard's network of global technology centers with broader capabilities to support our customers in this important automotive market," Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Edwards said in a statement. "Notably, the facility will enhance on-site product development, as well as accelerate the localization of our latest innovations, such as our award-winning Fortrex material."

The Novi, Michigan-based firm said the facility is equipped to serve Japanese auto makers – such as Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Suzuki and Toyota – and offers room for additional staff and equipment. The facility is equipped with the latest design and testing capabilities, including CAD and 2D CAE designers, 3D printing and material testing equipment for Cooper Standard's core product lines.

Cooper Standard and its joint venture partners operate 35 facilities in the Asia-Pacific region, including 15 in China, 11 in India, six in Korea, two in Japan and one in Thailand. Globally, the firm employs 32,000 people in 20 countries and manufactures products including as rubber and plastic sealing, fuel and brake lines, fluid transfer hoses and anti-vibration systems.
