Apollo plants in south India returning to normal operation

Gurgaon, India – Apollo Tyres’ manufacturing facilities in south Indian province of Kerala – in Perambra and Kalamassery – are now “nearing normalcy”, the Indian tire maker announced 5 Sept.

The production operations in the two plants were affected by floods in the region for a short period in Aug, as employees could not reach to work.

“There is no damage to equipment or property, and all the employees of the company are safe and secure,” said the Apollo statement.

Apollo estimates production loss due to the floods to be 3,000 tonnes, which will be covered by its insurance policy.

The company is in the process of assessing the exact quantum of loss, and the same will be claimed from the insurance company in due course.

Apollo has also been contributing to rebuilding the flood-hit province of Kerala. The company said it had sent four truck-loads of cleaning kits, including disinfectants, detergents, and first aid kits to the region.
