Melksham, UK – The US Department of Defense (DoD) has placed a $25-million (€21.5 million) order for 93,000 M50 mask systems with Avon Rubber PLC.
The UK rubber engineering group said in a statement in July that the order would contribute towards building its order book for 2019 fiscal year, which starts in October.
“We continue to pursue a number of identified opportunities with the DoD and rest of world military customers to build the order book further,” said the Avon statement.
In May, the Melksham-based group reported an 18.9% year-on-year rise in operating profit from continued operation, to £9.9 million (€11.2 million), on first-half sales of £77.7 million – 5.9% higher than a year ago.
The gains reflected increased demand for Avon Protection’s ‘law enforcement’ products, positive military order intake and growth in the farm services market, Avon said.
