Beijing – Goodyear’s tires size 215/50R17 installed on nearly 103,000 Peugeot 408 small sedans will be recalled in the China market starting this September due to safety reasons.
According to China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), some of those tires’ steel cord has below par threshold intensity, which may lead to rupture of the cord or even side bump.
Running under such condition may result in tire deflation in extreme circumstances, said SAMR.
Such vehicles’ manufacturer, Hubei, Wuhan-based joint venture Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën Automobile, filed for recall after SAMR’s investigation upon consumer complaint revealed said defect.
Batches involved, ranging from TC6A KR1R 0814 to TC6A KR1R 4215, were made by Goodyear Dalian Tire from February 2014 to October 2015, said SAMR’s website.
