Trelleborg, Sweden - Trelleborg AB has acquired the US-based privately-owned company Laminating Coating Technologies, Inc. (Lamcotec), as part of its strategy to strengthen its position in what it describes as "attractive markets".
Lamcotec, headquartered in Monson, Massachusetts, develops and manufactures polyurethane-coated and laminated fabrics primarily used in the aerospace industry and in the healthcare & medical industry.
The acquisition, made through Trelleborg Coated Systems, complements Trelleborg’s offering in engineered polyurethane-coated fabrics.
Trelleborg has not disclosed the he acquisition price but said in a 3 July statement that Lamcotec revenue stood at SEK185m (€18m) in 2017.
“Polyurethane-coated fabrics have development and expansion potential in several segments, niches and geographies. The company is well-managed, has extensive expertise in its field and has close and valuable customer relationships,” commented Dario Porta, president of the Trelleborg Coated Systems business area.
Earlier in February, Trelleborg acquired Dartex Holdings Ltd, a privately-owned UK company specialised in coated fabrics.
Dartex is primarily focused on the healthcare & medical industry and has been described by Trelleborg as “a world leader” in coated fabrics for pressure injury prevention.
Headquartered in Long Eaton, UK, Dartex has two production facilities; one in Long Eaton and another in North Smithfield, Rhode Island, US.
