Aguascalientes, Mexico – Cooper Standard Automotive Inc. will build a 100,000-sq.-ft. mixing facility in Aguascalientes to localise elastomer mixing capabilities and support continued growth in the region.
The firm just broke ground on the new facility, which represents an $11 million (€9.4 million) investment. It is expected that the facility will begin operations in early 2019 and ultimately employ about 100 employees at full capacity.
"The opening of our new in-house mixing facility in Mexico is an important step in our overall localization strategy to support the volume growth in the region," North America President Bill Pumphrey said in a statement. "With localised state-of-art mixing, we are able to provide complete vertical integration of critical rubber compounds to our facilities throughout Mexico."
Cooper Standard said the new site supports its mission to accelerate innovation while delivering world-class quality with speed and efficiency. It will be the firm's 14 rubber mixing facility globally, with locations in Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Mexico and US.
