Parker Hannifin to close Ohio factory

Cleveland, Ohio – Parker Hannifin Corp. plans to close a 28,000-sq.-ft. plant in Kent, Ohio, that is part of its Fluid System Connectors Division, a move that will impact 52 workers.

The factory makes polymer products for the firm's water and life sciences markets as well as some components for the transportation sector, according to a company spokesman. The operations at the Kent facility, he said, will be transferred to a plant in Lakeview, Michigan, by the end of the year.

"The decision was the only viable option to allow the FSC Division of Parker to remain competitive in a challenging global market," the spokesman said. "The Kent facilities will continue its manufacturing and assembly operation until all product lines are operational in their new location."

Parker Hannifin will offer all employees affected by the consolidation a voluntary severance package, along with other assistance such as outplacement services, he said.

The closing will not affect a nearby Parker Hannifin operation in Ravenna, Ohio.
