Greenville, South Carolina – Michelin Tweel Technologies is rolling out the X Tweel Turf, an airless radial golf cart tire designed to replace the standard 18X8.5N10 front and rear tire on golf carts.
The tire, Michelin said, works with both gas- and electric-powered carts.
Because the tire is airless, it cannot go flat or lose pressure, a feature that Michelin said "provides an ideal solution for owners and operators who deal with expensive and inconvenient downtime associated with flat tires."
The tire is best suited for use on vehicles that work in industrial, construction, utility or other rugged-surface conditions, Michelin said.
The X Tweel Turf features a four-bolt pattern and is constructed with high-strength poly-resin spokes that help carry the load and "create suspension-like characteristics." The multi-directional tread provides for longer wear and better traction, according to Michelin, which also noted that the tires allow for a maximum speed of 25 mph and support a load of up to 705 pound.
