Maastricht, The Netherlands – Arlanxeo is increasing prices for chloroprene rubber and chloroprene adhesive grades (CR) in all regions, despite price hikes on the same materials last November.
The Lanxess-Saudi Aramco rubber JV said that as of 1 Feb, prices for the CR products in the Asian market would rise by €200/tonne on 1 Feb, on top of per-tonne increases of between $300 and $400 introduced on 1 Jan.
In North America, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America, prices will increases by $550/tonne. This will take effect on 1 Feb. for all regions, except North America, where prices will rise on Feb. 15.
On 9 Nov 2016, Arlanxeo announced a round of price hikes for the same CR materials in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia.
Product prices increased by $230/tonne, or €200/tonne, effective 25 Nov, in that round.
The measure, said the company, is the result of the overall market- and cost developments of the past months.
Arlanxeo distributes CR under the brand name Baypren. CR products are used in applications like cable sheathings, hoses, belts and air springs as well as adhesives.
The company has production capacity of 60 kilotonnes per annum (ktpa) for the polymer.
