Damme, Germany – Automotive supplier Boge Rubber & Plastics has started operating a second plant in China since the beginning of 2017, following the merger business with its parent company Zhuzhou Times New Material Technology Co. (TMT).
In a 14 Jan statement, the company said that TMT integrated its automotive business unit into Boge Rubber & Plastics, setting up Boge Rubber & Plastics Zhuzhou Co. Ltd with nearly 200 employees.
The plant in Zhuzhou, Hunan Province, now being operated by Boge, focuses on automotive products for vibration control technology and components for acoustic insulation.
“The core business of Boge Rubber & Plastics Zhuzhou currently revolves around the manufacture of rubber-metal components for commercial vehicles and buses, said the statement.
In 2016 the Zhuzhou plant reported a turnover of nearly €29 million.
“The new plant will not only give us direct access to local Chinese vehicle manufacturers, but also enable us to add acoustic absorption materials to our product line,” said Torsten Bremer, CEO of Boge Rubber & Plastics.
Boge’s first Chinese plant was opened in Qingpu, near Shanghai in 2008.
Also, as a result of these changes, TMT will now manage all of its worldwide automotive activities through its subsidiary Boge Rubber & Plastics.
The group will, therefore, focus on products for vibration control technology and polymer composites for rail vehicles and other non-automotive industries, such as wind energy.
