Toyoda Gosei to increase weatherstrip production in Mexico

Kiyosu, Japan – Toyoda Gosei Automotive Sealing Mexico, SA de CV (TGASMX) is increasing its production capacity for weatherstrips by 50 percent by 2020, the company has announced.
The added the capacity in response to growing demand as car production increases in North America, especially in Mexico, according to a 24 Aug company release.
As part of the $34.5 million (€30.5 million) investment, TGASMX also intend to purchase adjacent land and expand its plant building to introduce trial manufacturing equipment.
TGASMX was established in San Luis Potosi, Mexico in 2008, and manufactures weatherstrips.
The investment will see the size of the plant grow from 41,000m2 to 48,600m2. and number of employees from 910 to more than 1400.
Sales at the plant currently stands at $60 million. Toyoda Gosei expects the figure to rise to $124 million by 2020.
