Sales dip at Shin-Etsu's silicones business
Tokyo - Shin-Etsu Chemical Co. Ltd’s silicones business achieved a marginal rise in earnings on slightly lower sales in the first quarter of its 2017 financial year, the group reported 26 July.
Compared to the first quarter of its 2016 fiscal year, net sales at the silicones business over the three months to 30 June fell by 2.9 percent to Yen45,443 million (€391 million) and operating income increased by 0.3 percent to Yen10,242 million.
"In Japan shipments of product applications for cosmetics and building materials continued to do well,” the group stated.
“Our silicones business outside of Japan continued to be firm in shipments for Europe, the US and southeast Asia,” added Shin-Etsu.
