Brussels - Tire makers in Europe have launched a new campaign to raise awareness of best practices and procedures on tire maintenance, storage and service life.
. Aimed at dealers, authorities and consumers, the TyreAWARE initiative is a collaboration between the European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers' Association (ETRMA) and its member companies.
TyreAWARE features information that has been consolidated and translated into 14 European languages, according to a 23 May ETRMA announcement. The information is available to download for free on an interactive microsite (www.tyreaware.org).
The materials include facts and advice on tire storage, purchase, maintenance and service life, as well as videos explaining when to replace tire, how to monitor tire inflation and when to fit winter tires, ETRMA explained.
Visitors to the microsite, it added, can test their tire-care knowledge by taking part in the TyreAWARE quiz, which is currently available in English.
“Tires are a complex and highly technological product and are the only element that connects a vehicle to the road,” said Fazilet Cinaralp, secretary general of the ETRMA.
“By following the information and the recommendations provided in this campaign, tires will be safer, last longer, consume less fuel, emit less CO2 and be quieter," she added.
