Hanover, Germany – The formal establishment of the Arlanxeo synthetic rubber JV between Lanxess and Saudi Aramco on 1 April “will have no impact whatsoever on Rhein Chemie Additives", according Dr Anno Borkowsky, head of the Lanxess business unit.
Speaking at Tire Technology Expo 2016 in Hanover, Borkowsky said that “there is simply no overlap between Arlanxeo and the Rhein Chemie Additives, a business unit of Lanxess".
“They produce and sell the polymers, while our business is the additives,” he explained. “So we basically have always run in parallel and that will continue in the future.
“There is some limited purchasing and selling between the two businesses, but we are a very minor customer for [Arlanxeo] simply because of the volumes that we take.”
