Marangoni targets earthmover retreads market

Roverto, Italy – Italian tire machinery and retreading group Marangoni has invested in its retreaded earthmover tires, “modernising” its plant in Roverto in 2015 and acquiring German distributor of earthmoving retreads, Recamax Reifen GmbH.

The “significant investments” in Roverto, included the installation of a modern Banbury mixer to improve the quality of earthmoving tread compounds, the introduction of new rubber compounds for specific applications and a shearography machine, said Marangoni in a statement on 10 Feb.

The shearographic technology, said the company, identifies all possible defects, both during initial inspection of the casing and final testing of the retread, improving the quality standard of Marix Marangoni retreaded earthmover tires.

The Italian group said that the recent moves were in response to demands for efficiency and cost-savings in a competitive market.

“As well as being a solution to give premium brand tires a second life, Marix Marangoni retreaded tires are also extremely competitive against low-cost new Asian-made tires, as well as having a much lower hourly cost than the latter,” said Luca Mai, sales executive manager for Marangoni commercial and earthmover tires.

“We trust in retreading and in our growth and so we started a reinforcement of our sales organisation in order to be closer to our dealers/distributors,” he added.

The acquisition of the German distributor, he said, can help Marangoni improve its service levels to German customers, specifically regarding logistics, service, and technical-product consulting.

Marangoni has also introduced a new software prorgram, Marangoni tire control system, in order to allow its dealers to monitor tires on customers’ fleet and maintain them.
