London – Bluestar Silicones and Turkey’s rubber compounder Baso?lu Kablo are to set up a rubber compounding centre in Turkey for “technical products adapted to local requirements”, Bluestar announced 13 Jan.
The new venture, it said, follows a “long-term” partnership and includes a technology license and supply agreement in silicone high consistency rubber (HCR) compounding.
Baso?lu Kablo, which has been in the silicone rubber business for over 20 years, will offer compounded HCR for technical applications based on the knowhow and expertise of Bluestar “mix & fix” centres.
Bluestar recently announced an investment of €15 million in a new HCR technology to bolster its presence and market share.
“The ready-to-use compounds market in Turkey is in constant development, particularly in speciality markets such as automotive, safety cables, household appliances,” said Frederic Jacquin, CEO of Bluestar Silicones.
This, he added, is where Bluestar and Baso?lu Kablo want to offer differentiated services.
The ready-to-use compounds, which is a mix of rubber base with special additives, catalyst and pigments, will be promoted under Baso?lu Kablo trademark and will be labelled “Powered by Bluestar Silicones”.
