Sibur, Schneider Electric to work on energy efficiency

Saint-Petersburg, Russia – Russian petrochemicals group Sibur and French-based energy management and automation group Schneider Electric have signed a three-year agreement to improve energy efficiency at Sibur plants.

The memorandum of cooperation was signed on 18 June at the Saint-Petersburg International Economic Forum by Sibur’s general director Dmitry Konov and Schneider Electric chairman and CEO Jean-Pascal Tricoire.

The partnership will work on energy saving, cutting operational costs and improving industrial reliability at the Russian company’s industrial facilities.

The areas of cooperation will include power supply of the facilities, metering and quality control systems, motor control, uninterruptible power supply devices and complex automation of sites and production facilities.

The agreement also has room for a further expansion of the partnership in the future.

“Share of the power resources represent a significant part of our production cost. Therefore, we are making significant investments in energy saving to enhance our competitiveness,” Konov said in a press statement about the deal.
