ERJ Archives: Uprooting and replanting rubber trees
These picture were published on 2 Aug 1924 on the replantation of hevea (rubber) trees and use of elephants as labourers.
"It is common knowledge that many estates planted on poor soil, or which have been seriously over-tapped, are being uprooted to make way for either a fresh planting of Hevea or some other crop."
"The accompanying illustrations show the way in which elephants were used on one plantation," said the short news item.
