Barcelona, Spain – Rubber and tire recycler Lehigh Technologies has opened a Spanish subsidiary in Barcelona, while advancing plans to invest in a European manufacturing facility, the company announced 17 June.
The US-based producer of micronised rubber powders (MRP) said Lehigh Spain will support its markets in the EU, eastern Europe and the Middle East & Africa.
Lehigh Spain has been created to ensure local availability of services, said Alan Barton, CEO of Lehigh Technologies, adding that the move was “an important step in expanding the MRP market.”
Barton went on to say that Lehigh was investing in a European manufacturing presence to further expand supply.
The project includes work with waste-treatment company Hera Holdings on a European manufacturing strategy for MRP.
Detailed engineering and design work for a plant has been completed and an EPC company selected, said Lehigh adding that it had finalisd its supply-chain planning for raw materials.
The company, however, did not reveal the location of the manufacturing plant or construction details.
