Geneva, Switzerland – At DKT/IRC 2015, DuPont Performance Polymers (DPP) will reveal key properties of a new high-heat resistant Vamac® ethylene acrylic elastomer (AEM) offering heat resistance as yet unmatched in AEM. The announcement signals the company’s responsiveness to rapidly evolving automotive industry material needs, and its continuing commitment to expanding the Vamac® family of AEM products.
The DuPont exhibit will also reflect the important role high performance elastomers play in society and demonstrate how the company is enhancing its advanced materials technology to help customers innovate and compete in the global economy.
Introduced as Vamac® VMX-5000, the new pre-compound has been designed to meet the latest challenges to automotive hoses and seals imposed by high pressure turbo charging, exhaust gas recirculation and other technologies requiring resistance to higher temperatures and aggressive fluids.
DPP will also introduce Vamac® VMX-2122 AEM, a new dipolymer offering better physical properties and processing performance than current AEM DP dipolymers. These improvements are coupled with enhanced colour stability, an important benefit for wire and cable applications.
The advantages of the new Vamac® AEM compounds will be discussed in a paper to be presented at the DKT conference by DuPont Scientist Klaus Kammerer entitled "New Vamac® (AEM) Ethylene Acrylic Polymer Developments to Respond to Trends in the Automotive Industry" on June 29th at 15:30.
