ERJ Tire Tracker - May-June 2015
Business, contract and marketing news from the international tire manufacturing and supply sector:
Land Rover has chosen the Pirelli P Zero tire with Pirelli Noise Cancelling System (PNCS) as the 22-inch Summer fitment for the new Range Rover Sport. PNCS reduces the noise that each tire produces as it runs along the road. Pirelli’s system makes use of a polyurethane sponge on the inside of the tire to absorb noise-making vibrations and therefore reduce the amount of noise passed through to the cabin.
“Negotiations are under way on issues including specifications, volume and start of shipment. We will consider gradually expanding shipment volume depending on orders secured by our plants in China and the demand for OEM products,” said a Kumho statement.“We can start delivery as early as this year, if we make rapid progress on the negotiations.”
Hankook Tire has expanded its OE portfolio in the heavy commercial vehicle (HCV) segment, providing tires in six different sizes for the new Mercedes-Benz Actros truck. The deal, extends a 2014 OE deal for Mercedes-Benz, said Hankook, adding that it planned to increase supply volume for more HCV tire sizes in the near future.
