US schedules 9 June hearing on Chinese tire investigation

Washington—The US International Trade Commission will hold a meeting at its headquarters 9 June on the final phase of antidumping and countervailing duty investigations of passenger and light truck tires imported from China, the agency has announced.

Interested parties who want to testify at the hearing must file written requests with the ITC by 3 June. The prehearing conference for those who want to appear at the hearing will be held at ITC on 4 June.

Prehearing briefs are due June 2 and post-hearing briefs June 16, the ITC said.

In July 2014, the ITC voted 6-0 that it found “a reasonable indication” of material injury to the US tire industry because of alleged Chinese government subsidies to tire manufacturers and alleged sales in the US at less than fair value.

The Commerce Department’s International Trade Administration has since made preliminary determinations on countervailing and antidumping duty margins against manufacturers and distributors of Chinese tires.

Commerce’s final determinations on countervailing and antidumping duties are due 12 June. If Commerce’s findings are affirmative, the ITC will make a final material injury ruling in July.
