KraussMaffei Berstorff advances centring system for rubber hose production
Hannover, Germany – KraussMaffei Berstorff will showcase a new tool centring system device for rubber hoses at the International Rubber Conference and DKT exhibition, to be held 29 June – 2 July in Nuremberg, Germany.
In an announcement on 12 May, the German machinery maker said that the straight-through extrusion head with hydraulic tool centring system and X-ray measuring device will enable rubber hose producers to improve their productivity and product quality while minimising raw material consumption.
The hydraulic tool centring system, for hose diameters ranging between 3mm and 100mm, will be available to KraussMaffei customers after the DKT show, according to Frank Reineke, head of rubber process technology and development at KraussMaffei Berstorff.
“This system is an optimum solution for hose manufacturers wishing to produce hoses of identical wall thickness over a longer period of time as it ensures high reliability, unparalleled economic efficiency and premium quality,” he added.
Retrofitting the hydraulic tool centring system in existing hose extrusion lines is also possible.
The straight-through extrusion head is designed for minimum set-up times, high productivity and optimised product quality.
Using the X-ray measuring device in combination with the tool centring system, the manual head adjustment is replaced by an automated process. The device continuously measures wall-thickness eccentricity and outside diameter of rubber hoses and adjusts the hydraulic wall thickness centring system with high precision to one-hundredth of a millimetre using digital controllers.
