Brickendonbury, UK – The UK-based Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre (TARRC) has developed a “zero halogen, low smoke, low toxic rubber compound” which has been approved for use in entrance mattings.
Natural-FR will now be produced on a commercial scale after a successful trial at a London underground station.
The rubber in Natural-FR is derived from renewable resources and a life cycle analysis has indicated the production of the polymer to have a significant negative carbon footprint.
“Natural-FR addresses today’s market needs for safe, high performing sustainable materials which can be used in challenging environments such as metro systems,” said Stuart Cook, TARRC’s director of research.
Brickendonbury-based TARRC is a research and promotion centre of the Malaysian Rubber Board.
