Brussels – Passenger car registration in Europe increased for the 19th consecutive month in March 2015, showing a 10.6-percent increase compared to the same period in 2014.
According to data produced by the Brussel-based European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) March marked the highest monthly growth since a year ago with a total of 1,604,107 units sold.
All major markets contributed positively to the overall expansion, with Spain showing the highest rise at 40.5 percent, followed by and Italy with a growth of 15.1 percent. France (9.3 percent), Germany (9.0 percent) and the UK (6.0 percent) also performed better than in March 2014.
New passenger car registrations increased by 8.6 percent in the first quarter of 2015, totalling over 3.5 million units. Major contributors to the growth were Spain (32.2 percent), Italy (13.5 percent), France (6.9 percent), the UK (6.8 percent) and Germany (6.4 percent).
