London - Lehigh Technologies has won the Bloomberg New Energy Pioneer award, which recognises 10 companies worldwide with leading technological innovation in clean energy.
Lehigh transforms waste materials into customisable, high performance, sustainable industrial materials – at lower costs than traditional materials, said a Lehigh announcement on 14 April.
“The technology works by breaking down end-of-life tires into micronised rubber powder (MRP) for reuse in new tires, rubber, plastics, asphalt,” it added.
According to Lehigh, six of the top 10 global tire companies use MRP and the substance is used in over 300 million new tires.
