Changzhou, China – German speciality chemicals company Lanxess has started its new EPDM rubber plant in Changzhou, Jiangsu province, China.
According to a 9 April press release, Lanxess will gradually ramp up the new plant completing its global EPDM asset base.
Over the next months, said Lanxess, the company will be running sampling processes with customers. The new plant will produce in total of ten premium grades of EPDM tailored to Chinese and Asian customer needs.
The plant has a nameplate capacity of 160 kilotonnes per annum, but Lanxess confirmed to ERJ in February that it will not be running with full capacity in the near future duty to over-capacities in the market.
Lanxess also announced earlier in March that it is planning stop EPDM rubber production at its Marl site in Germany in order to address market over-capacities and improve the competitiveness of its synthetic rubber business.
