The recent Tire Technology Expo was the stage for a wide range of 'digital factory' technologies from major suppliers such as Mesnac, Rockwell, Siemens and VMI. However, a recurring message from many at the Cologne exhibition and conference was that the tire sector lags far behind most other manufacturing industries when it comes adopting new technologies. This conservatism, they also suggested, was unlikely to change any time soon.
