Taormina, Italy – Pirelli has launched its new Cinturato All Season tire in Europe, saying the new product would not have a “performance drop-off” during winter.
The tire that “works equally well throughout the year [and is], in accordance with all local laws,” said a 28 Jan company press release.
“It is perfect in summer, without any of the performance drop-off seen by winter tires in hot conditions, claims Pirelli. “[It] works just as well in non-extreme winter conditions – as typically seen in towns and cities.”
“To achieve this, the creators of the tire started off with a directional tread pattern design, which optimises water expulsion through two wide longitudinal and lateral channels, reducing the risk of aquaplaning,” the company added.
Another interesting aspect of the Cintauro is the inclusion of a sealant within the tire that forms an airtight seal around foreign objects penetrating the tire. When the object is eventually removed, the sealant itself plugs the resulting gap.
The new Cinturato All Season also features a 3D sipe technology, which involves optimising the movement of the tread blocks.
The tread pattern are also said to help improve performance under braking and on corners regardless of the weather.
“On snowy surfaces the tread blocks open up to capture snow and provide excellent roadholding,” it added.
