Cabot realigns business-segment line-up
Boston, Massachusetts – Cabot Corp. has realigned its global business segments to help “improve efficiency and resource prioritization”, the company has announced.
The company is organised into four segments that include reinforcement materials, performance chemicals, speciality fluids and purification solutions, said a company press release.
The rejigged reinforcement materials segment now combines the rubber blacks and elastomer composites product lines.
“This segment’s main objective is to serve the tire and industrial rubber industries,” Cabot said.
The performance chemicals segment combines the speciality carbons and compounds, and inkjet colorants product lines into the speciality carbons and formulations business. Italso combines the fumed metal oxides and aerogel product lines into the metal oxides business.
“This new structure better leverages Cabot’s global activities across common customer applications, production, and research and development,” explained the company.
The speciality fluids business will now be a stand-alone reporting segment, while there will be no change to the purification solutions segment.
According to Cabot, the new segment structure is in line with recent changes in the management of the company.
Sean Keohane is the executive vice president and president of the reinforcement materials segment. Nick Cross is the executive vice president and president of the performance chemicals and specialty fluids segments. Fred von Gottberg is the senior vice president and president of the purification solutions segment.
Commenting on the changes, Cabot president and CEO Patrick Prevost, said: “The new segment structure will better align with our organisation and improve resource prioritisation.”
