Washington — The US Commerce Department’s international trade administration is expected to issue its preliminary anti-dumping determination on passenger and light truck tires imported from China on 21 Jan.
The investigation is limited to new pneumatic rubber tires with a passenger or light truck designation, according to an advisory statement from the department. The agency will issue a fact sheet outlining its decision.
The United Steelworkers union filed a petition with the International Trade Commission in June 2014, requesting countervailing and anti-dumping duties against Chinese passenger and light truck tires under sections 701 and 731 of the Trade Act.
The department set preliminary countervailing duties of 15.29 percent for most Chinese tire makers on in November 14, which it later lowered to 12.03 percent in December.
Imports of Chinese passenger and light truck tires to the US were estimated at $2.1 billion (€1.8 billion) in 2013.
